13-8 MO Stainless Steel

AMS 5864 | ASTM A693 | ASME SA693 | AMS 5629 | ASTM A564

13-8 Alloy (UNS S13800) is a precipitation hardening stainless steel that combines excellent strength, good toughness, and good general corrosion resistance. It is a through-hardening alloy, which allows it to be used in parts with large cross sections, where yield strengths in excess of 200 ksi (1,380 MPa) may be required. Good transverse toughness properties are achieved by tight chemical composition control (to prevent the formation of delta phase), low carbon content (to minimize grain boundary precipitation), and double vacuum melting (to reduce alloy segregation). Since the rate of cooling from the solution temperature is not critical, large cross sections can be air-cooled. This alloy is produced by a primary vacuum induct ion melt process (VIM), followed by a consumable vacuum arc remelting (VAR) step.

Typical Applications

  • aircraft parts
  • rocket engine mounts
  • nuclear reactor parts
  • landing gear components
  • aircraft parts
  • high performance shafts

Cronidur® 30 Stainless Steel

Cronidur® 30, a stainless martensitic steel, has greater corrosion resistance then 440c, and is longer wearing. Applications include aviation, medical engineering, industrial applications, precision mechanics, and many more!

Cronidur® 30 is the ideal solution!

  • For tools and machine parts which need high toughness under static and dynamic stresses
  • For tools and machine parts which are in contact with very corrosive fluids or gases even under bad abrasive conditions
  • Compared to the commonly used tool steels 1.2316, 1.4112 and 1.4125 if higher corrosion resistance is requested
  • And/or if there are higher requirements concerning grindability and polishabilty to achieve better surface conditions
